Wheelis and Arles Struvie, and moves around the town with all the zany
characters the audience has known to love!
DON TAYLOR was in rehearsals for both this show and Shakespeare Abridged at Sooner Theatre in Norman at the same time. He closed that show on Saturday and we had our first preview on Monday!! What a trouper! Don received the Best Play Gem Award for his direction of Driving Miss Daisy last season. This talented director has also made hits of God’s Favorite, The Matchmaker and On Golden Pond. He will direct our closing show this season ~ The Odd Couple. Don made a delightful Scarecrow for Summerstock’s The Wizard of Oz this summer and has had roles in Dracula, Scrooge!, Bullshot Crummond, Bad Seed, Oklahoma! and Oliver! to name a few. On the Jewel Box Board of Advisors, he will be next season’s Chairperson.
JONATHAN McELROY just returned from Chicago with his wife Leslie, where his professional credits include playing Huck Finn in Tom Sawyer, Simeon in Joseph/ Dreamcoat, Tigger in Winnie the Pooh and in the ensemble for The Nervous Set. A
graduate of UCO, his first stage show was at Jewel Box. You might remember him from such shows as Scrooge!, A Few Good Men, Dames at Sea, West Side Story, The Fantasticks or Razzle Dazzle to name a few. Jonathan and Don appeared together in this show at UCO for his class director project. In January, he and his wife will begin touring the United States in The Little Mermaid with Missoula Children’s Theatre. A Musical Theatre graduate from UCO, Jonathan comes to every rehearsal with a big smile on his face and willing to try anything to make the
part better! He is a delight!
CHARLES TWEED (Director) has been Jewel Box Production Director for 29 years, and Artistic Director for Summerstock in Edmond for 5 years. He has performed with the Philharmonic and has won 8 Best Play Gems and 3 Best Actor Gems. He will direct West Side Story for Summerstock June 28 - July 7 for six performances in Mitch Park. Chuck taught drama in the Mid-Del School district for 28 years, being named Teacher of the Year twice. He is looking forward to the incredible 50th season!
KACY SOUTHERLAND (Stage Manager) was Miss Jenkins in Dark of the Moon and in the ensemble for The Wizard of Oz for Summerstock in Edmond this summer. A senior at ASTEC Charter School, she is a former Canterbury Children’s Chorus and has enjoyed roles in Zombie Prom and Broadway Fever.
|DALE MORGAN (Props) received rave reviews for his performance as John the Witchboy in Dark of the Moon. Box Office Manager for 8 years, he has Gem Awards for The Foreigner, Tribute and Urning It. He directed The Bad Seed and Scrooge! The Musical for us and for one benefit of this production performed the role of Thurston!|
CHARLOTTE ROSE (Costumes) has costumed the entire season, receiving rave reviews for her work on Dark of the Moon. She has appeared in film, commercials, and industrials and has been the costume designer, and/or make-up artist for many area theaters.
